Joy Randels is a highly accomplished entrepreneur and executive, renowned for her expertise in scaling high-growth startups through successful financings and exits, including IPOs and M&A. She launched her first venture at age 17 and has since led 14 ventures, achieving nine successful acquisitions and two IPOs.
Joy is a bold and inspiring strategic growth adviser, transformational facilitator and ICF Professional Certified Coach, WCF Certified Business Coach specializing in creating Limitless Leaders® and systemic team coaching to create a culture where teams thrive, accelerate growth and maximize value creation through entrepreneurial principles.
Currently, Joy is the founder and Chairwoman of New Market Partners, where she has helped launch and fund 96 companies. Her latest venture, The Prowess Group, where she serves as founder and CEO, has assisted over 1000 founders in building valuable companies, transforming valuations, and achieving successful exits.
Joy’s career includes C-level leadership roles in Fortune 1000 companies such as CA, Akamai, and Apple, focusing on go-to-market strategy and customer-facing aspects of the business. She has raised over $360M in capital, generated more than $15B in revenue, and led over 20 M&A projects. Joy’s notable ventures include Citizinvestor, Velocitude, Business Layers, Netegrity, ISC8, ClearCube, and Cheyenne Software all of which were acquired, including one IPO.
As an expert in cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance, Joy has built privacy compliance programs aligned with global regulations like GDPR and CCPA. She co-founded the first cybersecurity guild focused on elevating the profession through global peer-to-peer education. Joy has also led major IT infrastructure initiatives, facilitated solutions for government, and guided leadership transitions.
Having successfully climbed the corporate ladder and achieved entrepreneurial success, she claimed her seat on public and private boards of directors. She has proven she can win at the VC game, establishing her own fund and serving as a limited partner in three prominent venture funds. Joy is one of the few women to shatter the glass ceiling and claim her spot at the helm and in the boardroom.
Joy serves as a board member of companies including NetEnrich, Pocket Network, BurstIQ, and as Board Chair of Technova Florida, Inc. She has been recognized on the inaugural list of 50 Women to Watch for Boards and has served on corporate boards for over 20 years with companies ranging from $25M to $6B in revenue.
An alumnus of the University of Georgia, Emory University, and MIT, Joy holds certifications in cybersecurity, AI, data privacy, compliance, and corporate governance. She is the Entrepreneur in Residence at The University of Tampa, a global public speaker, published author, and columnist for major publications. Joy is a member of the International Women’s Forum, UN Women’s Council, and Women in Cybersecurity. She has been honored as a Fellow of Information Privacy by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Joy has been named one of the Top 50 Women in Tech, Top Women in Venture Capital, Florida 500 for five consecutive years, Top 50 Women in Cyber, FT Digital 50, and Tampa Bay Top 100 for seven years. She has been honored as the Florida Technology Leader of the Year, Business Woman of the Year, and E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year.
